Puberty

PUBERTY is the period of human life characterized by the intense growth of the human body, including mental and sexual development, which ends with obtaining the ability to reproduce (have children). It is also called the period of sexual maturation from adolescence. From Latin pubertas - maturation

The changes in puberty are determined by the activation of certain genes responsible for stimulating the production of sex hormones (active substances that can influence the structure and function of tissues and organs in the body, especially the sexual organs).

  • During puberty, adolescents undergo successive changes with similarities and differences in girls and boys.
  • Puberty can come earlier or later; delayed or precocious puberty, in most cases, is a variant, and in some cases, it can be an indicator of severe pathologies.
  • Environmental factors (endocrine disruptors) play an increasing role in the occurrence of disorders in adolescent pubertal development.
  • Teenagers, through their behaviors, can help their bodies to develop harmoniously.
